Me time!

I just need my me time! Every single day! I will compromise on my sleep but not on my time. Entirely for myself and dont even try to ruin it!

After the kids go to bed, i utter a sigh of relief! yes another day gone by and the most important time is about to start. My time for myself. I like to watch movies or surf  or read a book. Occasionally i enjoy a cup of chai latte.  For two straight hours i do whatever i want to do or do nothing at all. This keeps me going day in and day out.

With two kids and work and home, it gets too tiring to focus and keep your mood in  check. I beleive its important that you spare some time for yourself where you do as you desire. It doesnt have to be long 30 mins, an hour  or whatever you can manage.

Do it. It helps!

Love,

Travel: Warsaw

I love travelling. If i had the opportunity to just go and spend a few days in another city, country wherever, i would do it. But i cannot leave my little boy just like that. My mum and husband were too kind this time to giving me the chance to go away for a few days with my friends to Warsaw Poland, while they took care of my son. So i owe it to them for all the fun i had there.

Why we chose Warsaw: it's very cheap there (or thats what we thought). The return plane ticket with Ryan air was about 50 pounds and the hotel stay at 5 star Marriott was about 50 pounds for two nights.

The check-in was very late at 22 pm although we reached the hotel at 14 pm, so we were upgraded to an executive room, with free internet and access to executive lounge with dinner. Ahhhmazing. The staff was super friendly and helpful. This was the view from our room window.

The first day we went to the old town, did the horse carriage ride and ate at an italian restaurant. I always have adored the small older parts of european cities, they take you back to a different era.

It was very windy and cold, so when we got off from the carriage ride we went to a cafe we found in the narrow streets. It was called the shabby chic cafe. It was run by some girls and they had put so much thought and love in decorating it, that we felt at home in there.

The next day we went to the Rising museum (http://www.1944.pl/), showcasing the pieces of history from the world war II. Its a highly recommended place for anyone visiting warsaw and for anyone intersted in the WW2.  Didnt take any pictures there as it was pretty dark in it. Their system was down so we got free entry.  Later we had  lunch at a Bali restaurant where i had food served in half a pineapple.

Then we did some shopping at an enormous shopping mall złote tarasy which was located opposite our hotel. I was a little dissappointed that although there was a lot of shops and brands, there wasnt much selection. I still bought a few pieces for my son just for the sake of buying something. The prices were pretty much same as where i live so i will not exactly call it very cheap. However, its cheap in terms of food and grocceries.  After that we did some much deserved pampering. Had a haircut, colouring, hair mask and styling. I paid 100 pounds for this all, pretty reasonable i would say. Also did pedicure from the marriott  hotel spa. Very satisfied with everyting. We also watched the movie 'the other woman' at the zloty tarasy cinema. Not a great movie, but a fun one to enjoy with your girlfriends.

Third day we checked out and decided to go to a famous park, but it started raining so we changed our mind and went for lunch instead. Thats pretty much all what we did there. All in all it was a great trip with my friends.

Its not and extensive guide to what to do in Warsaw, we wee there just to have fun, relax and get away from our pretty hectic life for a while. Thats why we stayed calm and didnt rush to see places.

Hope you enjoyed the post :)

First day at Kindergarten!

Baby had his first day at kindergarten yesterday. Woke up at 8 am, had breakfast, got ready and did a quick shoot. Its been a while since i took pictures of him with my SLR, i'm usually shooting everyday moments with my iphone. He got a warm welcome when we got to the KG. His drawers and cupboards were marked with his name. He instantly mixed up with the
eight kids in his group. They played, sang nursery rhymes and danced. But since it was his first day, we stayed only 2 hours, and then it was time to get back home.

Looking forward to many more good days at kindergarten and a happy baby!

Good news!

My baby finally finally yes finally got a place in kindergarten! After waiting 7 months. We applied when he was just 4 months old and now he is 18 months. We are super excited, i even took him to his kindergarten yesterday and he really enjoyed, although his first day is next week on the 19th March. It is a weird system here that the child should be one year on 30th August to have a place at kindergarten, but my baby was born after 30 August therefore he lost the chance to be given a place at KG when he filled one year. so we waited.. patiently!

We are delighted ! Cant express in words. The kindergarten is just infront of our apartment, how convinient! More than anything, i am looking forward to a routine. Baby was never tired enough to sleep at 7 pm, and usually slept pretty late which was exhausting for us. In addition to that i was working 60% and work people were not very happy with that. So now i can work 80%, can start gym, can socialize more. Can basically feel alive again! Hahaha ..  I'm not the kind of mom to home school my kid and be SAHM until they are 4 years. No i cannot live like that. SO yea you can imagine how excited i am. It will be good for baby too. I literally hugged random kids on the street, he is so ready to play with other kids and make friendships.

Will be updating more hopefully!

A little hello to all these people who are checking out my blog from Russia, Canada, UK  ;)

A little bit of organizing goes a long way...

... yes indeed!! Oh how i hated the bottom of my store shelf, cluttered with my flats. I never bothered to look for any shoes. So i decided to give my shoes a newer and better home from this :

to this :

Same goes with my jewellery. It was put away in jewellery boxes, i'm such a last minute person that i never had time to go through the boxes to match the jewellery with the dress.

I love wearing earings. They are so practical and make a simple outfit look so pretty if you are wearing some matching studs. I have a handful of earings which i had crammed up in a small jewllery box, like this:

Not practical for sure! Hard to find the pair in this small box, so i bought a cheap storage box from ebay and decorated it a bit and put the earings to be available easily when i needed them. Very handy now, nothing gets mixed up.

Some oraganizing done with my masala storage.

Hope you enjoyed my storage, and space management ideas. This blog post has been saved as draft since months, finally up for publishing. Told you i was lazy! :)

First birthday

It was only yesterday that i had my baby boy. He was so tiny and fragile weighing only 2.5 kilos when he was placed in my arms. But look at him now he is 11 kgs and strong and with a personality MA. He is one year MA. Time sure flies!!

I didnt want a grand birthday as i believe kids so small dont remember how their birthdays were. But i wanted to have it special for pictures and memories sake, after all first birthdays are special. I started planning about 1.5 months ago. Since he dont have any favourites at this age, i decided to go with a colour theme, so i chose blue, green and turquiose colours.

I started off with an invite in green and blue hues. Didnt print it though just e-mailed and Whatsapp'ed it to the people we were inviting over. It worked good.

Then i started planning how to decorate the living room. Collected the blue green streamers, balloons and tabler covers. Printed and designed some decorative stuff. I wanted to bake the cake myself but its been a while since i have baked, so decided against it. I looked around a lot for an affordable and good cake, wanted something that looked as well as tested good too. I have tasted caked that looked absolutely stunning with aweful taste. So whoever i contacted i specifically asked if they can have both good taste and looks. I finally settled with Amani cakes. She charged half what others quoted me. The cake looked pretty the way i wanted except i thought he colours were a bit dull, i had asked for a bright blue, green turquise color and the cake colours wee on a lighter side. Nevertheless it was good looking and tasted DELICIOUS! It was soft and moist and melt-in-your –mouth kind of experience. Would definitely be ordering from her again.

Enough of talking, lets head over to the moments from the birthday. Enjoy! :-)

Back to work!

So after almost 1 year of being away from work I’m back to work! Gosh so much has changed during this one year. I rememeber i was pregnant this time last year. Now i am a mother of a 10 months old! It was great to wakeup to his lovely smile, I miss that badly since i leave him asleep when i leave home in the morning. Good thing is i’m only working 80% which is 6 hours a day, I start at 8am and is home by 3 pm. This gives me the oppertunity to be home early, be less stressed and spend more time with my baby, this overweighs the less pay i get in the end.

I am liking this change of routine, of getting ready each morning and meeting people. Baby still hasnt found a place at kindergarten, so we will take turns in taking care of him until he finds a spot. For now his dadi and nani are there for him.

I know i have been extremely lazy in updating n this blog. But we have guests staying over and i’m extremely busy with that. Hope to be more active. Smilefjes

Baby turned half a year

Baby turned 6 months last week mashAllah, so we are kind of celebrated his half Birthday this weekend. Baba was a bit against it but I don't see any harm in celebrating that your child is growing up healthy. Each to their own. But still we bought a cake, I made apple cinnamon cupcakes, baba blew up the balloons and invited our near and dear ones. I'm forever thankful to Allah for this little bundle of joy in our lives, so why not just take this as an excuse to celebrate it with a cake  :)
Happy half year birthday Mama's jaan.
Kisses and prayers your way, may you live long and healthy <3

DIY: Painted vase

My husband brought me really pretty long stemmed gerbera flowers for valentine. I had no long vase to put them in and didn't want to cut the stem either. That led me to a quick DIY. I had an empty olive oil bottle at hand. I scrubbed away the sticker on it, washed and dried it. Then spray painted it, it was done and dried in 2 hours and voila we had a lovely white flower vase especially for gerbera's.

Hope you like it :)
